Learning with iTunes U
It would be nice to think that after getting a Masters degree in Marketing Management I’d be done with studying. The truth is though, that while the Masters has turned out to be just the right qualification for managing marketing processes and strategic planning, my knowledge of how specific functions work is sometimes lacking. So [...]

How to know where your filler cap is
Somehow I’ve managed to get to the age of 32 only owning one car. It was a 1980s Ford Falcon Panel Van which I bought in Cairns and drove to Brisbane before my fear for my own life and those of other road users resulted in me selling it for scrap. I now drive Tany’s [...]

Praying for disasters shouldn’t be the last ditch option
I don’t know about you, but every time I hear about another plan to cap the oil flowing into the Gulf of Mexico I get hopeful all over again. Despite repeated reminders that no matter how powerful the human race becomes we cannot execute complete authority over all nature, I’m forever hopeful that our ingenuity [...]

The reason for the silence and other stories
Sorry it has been a little while without an update on here. Yes, work has been shockingly busy but it always is so it’s not much of an excuse. I’ve also been on holiday, that was last week, and the week before was the International Christian Resources Exhibition at Sandown Park. More on both of [...]

Getting in line, how to vote in the UK
So it’s election night in the UK. For the first time I’m showing a genuine interest in politics and am planning to stay up as late as necessary to watch the results come in. The big story of the night, though, is going to be the people who haven’t been able to vote. In countries [...]

The pointlessness of the debates
Last night was the final debate of the series and I can’t tell you how pleased I am that they are over. What a pointless waste of time. The final debate (if you can really call it a debate) was last night and I managed to watch about half before giving up and turning over [...]

The wonder of an ice bath and other advetures
Well, the weekend was fun. After a Friday evening out with friends in Thame, Saturday was full of exercise and adventure. Tany and I played squash in the morning, followed by a quick bite to eat in town and my picking up the last bit of her birthday present, before heading back to the Wycliffe [...]

Reuse or throw away
We live in a disposable culture where often it’s cheaper to throw old things away and replace them than it is to make repairs. We’re about to do this with our digital camera – I cracked the screen the other day and it turns out that it’s just cheaper to go out and get a [...]

Looking forward
Yesterday evening I was back in Southampton for a meeting of the Focus trustees. The sun was shining as I arrived and driving through the side streets on the way to the meeting I was thinking about how nice it was to be back in town. It would have been even better to call some [...]

A glorious weekend
Tany’s parents came to visit this weekend. So, on Saturday morning, after a hack around a local par-3 golf course, we took a picnic to West Wycombe before heading in the evening to Thame for dinner. Perfect weather, good company and a couple of nice photographs.
