The search for great instant coffee

Starbucks have finally released their instant coffee in the UK. This is the stuff that’s supposed to be as good as any fresh ground coffee and means that you can enjoy a cup of Starbucks quality coffee at home, without the hassle of brewing, percolating or grinding.

I bought a small packet to try but never plan on making this my regular drinking coffee. £1.20 for three sachets is just way too expensive, especially considering the way I consume coffee.

Fortunately, it wasn’t an unpleasant experience. There was no bitter after taste, instead it tasted like good quality coffee. I’m just not going to be making it my regular drink. Price is prohibitive and the time spent waiting for my filter coffee to brew is well used thinking through the activities of the day.

    Agreed – at the prices Starbucks asks, it’s too expensive for me.

    However, it’s the best instant I’ve had – but still not better than a proper brewed cup.

    Convenience = extra costs.

    I’m hoping that at some point I’ll be able to try a coffee from the Clover http://www.starbucks.com/clover/
