Hovis wins ITV’s ‘Ad of the Decade’

The ‘Go on lad’ advert, released by Hovis to mark the bread maker’s 122nd anniversary, has been recognised as ITV’s ‘Ad of the Decade’

The advert, which runs for 122 seconds, illustrates the changes to British life during the 122 year history of the company. In this advert I saw references to the Titanic, emancipation of women, WWI, WWII and the voice of Winston Churchill, a street party – probably marking the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II – 1966 World Cup celebration, ethnic diversity as immigrants from the Indian sub-continent arrive, the miner’s strike of the 80′s  and fireworks for the millennium celebrations.

It’s a great ad.
