After quite some time Tany and I have finished making our way through the seven series of the West Wing. It has been brilliant.
The writers of the West Wing did a brilliant job of creating characters that would take different positions on an argument. It meant that they could show a number of different points-of-view around fictitious political situations.
The fact that this was fiction didn’t necessarily mean that they avoided real life politics. Instead situations would be created that mirrored real life and just allowed broader discussion on a subject.
One of the best ever episodes was shown shortly after 9/11, when many of the West Wing staff were locked in a room with some school students on a tour of the White House. The resulting conversation about terrorism, its origins and why it happens was dealt with in a really interesting and open way considering its closeness to a real life event.
Anyway, below are seven clips from taken from YouTube. There are many more to watch if you have time to search for them. Or you could just look for a deal to buy the box set, you won’t be disappointed.
Hi Phil,
So glad to see West Wing receive high praise – I am such a fan that I’ve almost finished watching it through for the second time. Great combination of entertaining TV and challenging issues.
Say hi to Tany for me. I hope more Physio opportunities arise soon!
