I’ve been watching too much West Wing. “Take out the trash day” refers to the government trying to sneak out all the bad news on the same day as some major horrific event that has taken everyone’s attention. I guess using it as the title of this post is a bit misplaced, I’ve not really got any bad news, but it was all that crossed my mind.
I’m going to try to give you a quick update on the week, I may try to sneak the real news in under the wire somewhere.
Tany’s currently reading ‘The Dangerous Book for Boys’ to me. I’m getting a pop quiz on latin phrases in common use… We went to see a friend, Louise, in the show Oaklahoma last night. It was an amateur dramatic type thing in a nice little theatre in Ickenham. Honestly, musical theatre isn’t my thing but I kept finding myself smiling as the production went on, mostly because the guys on the stage seemed to be enjoying themselves. From what I could work out there was a guy who wanted to take a girl to a dance but she wouldn’t go with him because he didn’t have a flash enough car. It all worked out well in the end though.
This week at work has been good. I’m trying to get more mileage out of the PR side, I like free publicity. We’ve had a couple of people interviewed on BBC Local Radio regarding the Eden to Eternity tour (which is going really well) as well as one guy who talked to UCB radio about lost languages. There’s an interview regarding this on the Wycliffe website now.
I finally joined the gym. After my high blood pressure issue I had to visit the local nurse to get another reading. Turns out it’s a little bit high, but nowhere as bad as the test at the gym indicated, so I’m signed in and ready to go and will probably be spending most of next week on a cross trainer (I think they are known as eliptical machines in some parts of the US) somewhere.
Today the ‘out-laws’ (Tany’s parents) are visiting. We’re probably going to head out somewhere for a walk this afternoon, which means missing the rugby. Tim, one of my colleagues here, is going to record the games, so we may make it across to him to watch tonight. I’m going to try to be good and not mention it at any point today.
Actually, this is a good time to go for a walk. The weather has been perfect all week and it’s good to see the sun again. So we can head into Marlow and walk along the bank of the Thames.
We’re probably going to talk weddings. Which reminds me that I’ve updated the wedding website with some local accommodation for anyone planning to visit for the weekend.
That’s it for news. I’m going to go and tidy my room ready for inspection.
Have a good weekend.
