My wife and I both would have loved that concert.

My very small new year’s present to you is a suggestion to enjoy the album: “Reservoir” by Fanfarlo. It came out in 2010, but it’s still one of my favourite albums of the last two years. Give it time; the third listen may be better than the first.

Yep… we spend 6 days manning a Wycliffe stand at Spring Harvest in 2008 thinking exactly the same thoughts. In 40 hours at the stand we spoke to about 35 people, and many of them just came up to ask if we knew the Wycliffe person from their church. Meanwhile the “Christian t-shirt” and “Christian puppet” stands next to us got a lot of interest.

Made me feel like I wanted to turn over some tables, but ironically it was our table that nearly got turned over when the enormous Christian t-shirt stand overbalanced and almost landed on top of us…!

When I originally wrote this New Wine hadn’t published their speakers for this year and it wasn’t possible to find what had gone on before.

I’m pleased to hear that they’ve had a non-western voice in the past. However, they’ve just shown their speakers/leaders for this year and they are all from the UK or North America.

Hi Phil. Very interesting comments. Have you looked at New Wine? They have their ups and downs. But the main morning Bible teaching for the whole week in 2010 was led by an Archbishop from Uganda. I’m shamed that I can’t remember his name – Henry someone. They have a World Mission thread in their seminar programme also. Interestingly the exhibition space is possibly less focussed on overseas mission than the event itself.

Hear, hear Phil. Agree with you in all that you have said. Maybe I’m cynical too! A lot of the things you mention are the reasons why I took the decision to back off exhibiting at soem of the ‘major events’ in Scotland over this past year.

Well spotted. How can others really know of World Mission when all there is are stands in a cold tent. We live in a multi media age. Missions as well need to hone presentations and get on the committees of these gigs maybe? I will be looking out for your name Phil. Your point is well made and many are missing some Truely remarkable stories of God working and some speakers who might challenge in a different way.
