It’s great to be working in an environment where there’s something new to discover every day.

This week’s stunning fact turns out to be that more than 60% of the world’s population live in just nine countries.

More than 60% of the world’s peoples live in only 9 countries. These nine countries, known as the E-9, also account for more than two-thirds of the world’s non-literates and over half of the out-of-school children.

Maybe it’s just the sheer size of the population that makes education in these countries such a challenge.

By the way, the nine countries that make up the E-9 are, Bangladesh, Brazil, China, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Nigeria and Pakistan.

The original information about this comes from the Wycliffe International Prayer Focus Bulletin. This is published weekly and is available online in five different languages. The information about the E-9 will be appearing in a prayer for the week beginning 21st June 2010.
