I now have Google News alerts coming to my inbox for terms like ‘Bible Translation’ and ‘Wycliffe’. Most of the time I skim the news and think nothing more about it – there’s only so much space in my head and I’m not about to start investigating the complexities of Greek or Hebrew, at least not just yet.

That said, there are occasional gems. Today Peter Dray’s blog popped up in the reader. He’s working with UCCF and based with students in the North West. The Christian students of Blackpool School of Arts have developed a new ice breaker.

If each translation of the Bible had to be personified by a celebrity, who would each translation be?

Here’s the ideas we came up with:

KJV: Brian Blessed
Message: Mike Skinner
ESV: John Humphreys
CEV: Ben Shepherd
NLT: Myleene Klass
NIV: Philip Schofield
TNIV: Declan Donnelly
GNB: Lorraine Kelly
Amplified: Geri Halliwell
